According to Mikala: Our visit to the Lakes Basin Recreation Area in the Plumas National Forest was great! This is a very beautiful place, with many picturesque lakes and views.
We rented a vacation home in Graeagle, just outside the Lakes Basin area. From here, we were able to head out to kayak and hike the lake area. See the other stories for detailed information about each adventure.
Driving around the Lakes Basin area is very peaceful. We drove up to Mills Peak Overlook one day (about 3 miles on a dirt road from Gold Lake Hwy). The view of Graeagle below was spectacular. The peak and lookout are very high up. On the way down, we could also see Gold Lake.
The Lakes Basin Area is definitely worth a visit and exploration.
