According to Mikala: Kodachrome State Park is a great place to camp if you want to explore the surrounding canyon area. It is close to Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The campground area itself is inside the Kodachrome State Park and offers hiking trails and wonderful views.
Our campsite was very private. We set up camp right on the far edge of the campground. Our views were the surrounding golden white mountains and the unusual red rock 'chimneys' located throughout the park. The weather was terrific for May.
We happened to stay there during a near full moon...so the night sky was very bright and beautiful. We noticed some kind of moonflowers surrounding our tent, which would open up in the evening to follow the moon across the sky.
